Wow, Already into the double digits with the updates. That has to be a good sign.
First I have to say, "HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY". I know I'm a day late now, but, I think I've mentioned it before, things take longer here. So if you go by iraqi time, we're actually early. If you haven't seen it yet, the team posted something special for all of the mother's in the picture section. You can thank SSgt. Lee for the beautiful heart drawings.
The last week has been good. Nice and cool, and I don't think there was even a sandstorm. Hopefully those are past us, but for some reason I doubt it. It's just become normal, as it would be for the rain or snow back home. They are just part of the weather here. Of course, it has taken three months to get used to them.
This week saw most of the team getting their Green belts in MCMAP. Preparing for the test took up at least an hour of their time each night, but it gave them a chance to beat on each other, which they seemed to enjoy just a little too much. SSgt. Lee did the training right along with all the Marines who are much younger than him, and he didn't miss a step. He collapse from exhaustion and didn't move for 3 days because of the soreness, but he didn't miss a step.
Jack, our interpreter, is always a source of good laughs (not always intentionally). Just as we probably look silly at times trying to say iraqi words, Jack has some interesting translations. For example, A wallet = Money Pocket and putting out a fire = turning the fire off. He's great during all of the discussions but at times we have to stop and just laugh for a few moments before going on.
If you noticed the strange face in the Pictures, that is Doc Dunbar who is our temp loan doc. He's a good Doc and a good addition to the team, even if it is temporary. Doc Laranang should be enjoying his leave now. We've thought about putting his picture on a milk carton because we are still waiting to hear how things are going back home. If you see him, ask him to drop us a line.
Well, that's it for now. Mom's, I hope you enjoyed your special day, and know that we were thinking of all of you.
