Here we are moving into our 4th month of the deployment, and still going strong. Normal Marine Corps Deployments are only 7 months, so if that was the case we'd be over half way done. Luckily (depending on your view) we get to have a 12 month deployment so this puts us at our 1/3 mark. Seems like just yesterday that we arrived.
LCpl. Ray has pushed out on Leave, so we hope he is at home enjoying the time off. Doc Laranang has been back on deck here for a while now and has done a good job of knocking off the rust. With LCpl. Ray gone, Cpl. Mia has had to fill the shoes of the lead driver and after the first day or two, hasn't gotten lost despite my best efforts.
I've heard it from a number of my family members that you'd all like to hear about where we live. It's pretty simple. In the photos you see the Marines waiting for the mission brief between white trailers. These "cans" are our homes. Rooms are about 10'x10' and come furnished. The team has also been quite resourceful in "acquiring" abandoned furniture, so most every room has a fridge and a TV. This is good because with the 7 XBOX's in the team now, the team sure needs those TV's.
Our office is a fair walk from the cans, but our trucks are right outside. This is great for the morning missions. The Gym isn't too far away either so a lot of the team spends time there. The Chow halls are much better than in the states, so it's good the gym isn't too far away.
Thank you all for taking the time on Memorial day and sending a note to the team or for your Marine. It was a standard day for us, meeting with the DG's of the city. The chow hall was decorated for the day and we as a team took some time to think about what the day actually represents.
If there are any other questions you have about what we do, or how we do it please ask. As Always thanks for everything you do for us.
